Our Beliefs
Open Hands, Open Hearts,
Open Doors
We are a community of faith centered in the unconditional grace of God. Such love is made known to us in many ways – in Christ’s death and resurrection, in the Spirit who comforts and accompanies us, in creation, in our relationships, in our vocations, in our prayers and God’s promises, in our love of neighbor near and far as we encounter Christ’s peace and God’s justice. At St. Peder’s, we firmly believe that our faith is rooted not in fear and guilt, but in joy and wholeness. This joy and wholeness is meant to be shared. Whatever we’re experiencing in life, we can trust that we are known and loved by God, just as we are.
Mission Statement
Rooted in our heritage, and embracing the future, we joyfully live the gospel with...
Open Hearts, Open Hands and Open Doors.
A Reconciling in Christ Congregation
As a community of the people of God, we are called to be in ministry with all people of our world, knowing that the world can be unloving and an unwelcoming place. Our world is a place of injustice, alienation, divisiveness, and brokenness. Christ calls us to reconciliation, wholeness, and community. We strive to be a place of peace, rest, and to be made whole by God’s infinite love and grace.
- St. Peder’s welcomes all people. We welcome every race, culture, age, ability, family structure, economic status, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.
- As a congregation, we humbly commit: to the holy work of listening, learning, and repentance; to transform traditions and practices that are harmful, unjust or unwelcoming; and to grow in ways to act in God's love by advocating for anti-racism, LGBTQIA+ rights, social and eco- nomic justice and environmental stewardship.
- We are all parts of the body of Christ and unique individuals created by God. We love and accept everyone as they are. We commit to honor everyone’s unique experiences and gifts as we journey together in Christ
St. Peder's Reconciling in Christ Statement
God's Story Lived Out
We believe God’s story – and our story – are lived out anytime we gather. Whether around the Lord’s Table, at a table in the Fellowship Hall for a time of lively conversation and delicious treats (and fair-trade coffee) after worship, or one of our many opportunities to serve our neighbors, we are participating in God’s story. We take part in this story as a response to God’s inclusive love and we hope that, as we live, we would see God in others and that, in turn, people would see God in us.
Embracing All With
Open Hands, Open Hearts, Open Doors
We are a church that believes in Jesus, and a church that loves God and all people. We have a heart for authentic worship, are passionate about the local church, and are on mission to see God’s kingdom established across the earth.
